Today, an excited group of Michael's Missionaries met to
exchange information in anticipation of final preparation
for our departure for Belize this coming Saturday, March 31.
As we filled out forms and learned about logistics, packing,
and itinerary, we also kept our minds and hearts focused
on the journey through Passion Week that we will experience
as part of our mission to the children of Ambergris Caye.
As Paul was to the Corinthians, we realize that first and
foremost we are ambassadors for Christ, and it is only in and
through Him that we will be empowered to fulfill this reality

As team leader, I am excited about the outstanding group
of Christian brothers and sisters who will be traveling to
San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, off the coast of Belize. There,
we will be working with Missionaries Francis and Vernon Wilson,
who are in-residence in the Diocese of Belize under the leadership
of the Rt. Rev Philip Wright, Bishop of Belize. Under Francis'
and Vernon's direction, the Diocese has committed to building
a school to serve primarily the underprivileged of this largely
tourist economy. Francis and Vernon have enlisted the help of
more than 15 different US parishes, campus ministries, and
other faith communities to help in this massive undertaking, which
will eventually serve the needs of nearly 200 children here-to-fore
without access to any formal education. St. Michael's is proud to
be able to contribute to this effort, and humbled by the witness
of all who have gone before.
We hope to make regular posts to this blogspot as preparations for
the mission continue, and during the mission itself...

St. Michael's next mission trip is for Holy Week of 2007 to Belize. Under the leadership of John McHenry, a team of St. Michael's finest will travel to Belize to work on an Anglican school, and share in the celebration of Christ's passion, death and resurrection during Holy Week.
